Author Anne Battye was born in Darjeeling, India, in 1938 and is one of a dwindling number of the ‘Children of the Raj’.   As such, she was exposed to a variety of peoples, customs and places from childhood.
She was trained by Marjory Barlow, niece of FM Alexander, in the 1960s and still teaches the Alexander Technique from her north London home, a house and garden filled with memories, plants, birds, cats and much wildlife.

This book is an invaluable vehicle for developing a better understanding of the Alexander Technique for teachers, trainees and, of course, pupils. Anne is the teacher to whom Angela and I have returned over the years; she is faithful, honest, and true to FM Alexander’s principles.
