This afternoon on-line workshop will run from 1:30pm UK time to 4:30pm with Michael Hardwicke and your hosts, the directors from Hite.

'In this workshop we explore more fully the essential practice of Inhibition and Direction and develop our capacity for these two skills in how we work on ourselves.

We will use what I call “Living Alexander Anatomy” which is about connecting to our structure in a clearer way. This is not cerebral/head Anatomy, but real hands on find and feel to increase our ability to connect into our structure. Some basic Embryology provides a good model for a whole view of how we can visualise in a joined up way.

This can also be helpful for our pupils with respect to their ability to practice, and how we convey AT with our hands. For more background to Living Alexander Anatomy visit my website here.

We will learn to safely change our connective tissue and fascia both of which bind us and are part of the physical manifestation of our habit. We will bring some clarity to the thoracic structure and our breathing.

Other areas we can illuminate are the Pelvis and understand not just the Psoas but also the role of the Pyriformis, both of which often feature in lower back pain situations. We will clarify the Sacrum bone and how we can find a good anchor for the way we release up.

I will be sharing practices developed in 35 years of the teacher training courses at Fellside and much that I have learned from my primary teacher Don Burton.'

About Michael Hardwicke

Michael began working with Don Burton in 1982 and started AT training with him Easter 1985. Since then he has continued uninterrupted on the Lake District training course until Covid brought this to a stop in March 2020. After Don died in 1996 Michael has been directing the training with Jamie McDowell.

Always being on the training course has been constantly helpful and challenging in learning and a good way to deeply embody and integrate the teachings.

Whilst Michael has taught mostly at the Fellside centre he has taught public courses in many venues as well as being blessed with teaching AT in Crete for 25 years. He has continued to use the ideas of Don Burton in his approach, both with the public and on the teacher training course - particularly using Embryology and Anatomy to clarify AT.

Participants will receive a record of attendance after the event.
Note: It is HITE’s policy not to record workshops as this helps to provide a ‘safe space’ for workshop attendees. Attendees are also asked not to record sessions.

Please book early to avoid disappointment as places are limited and note that no refunds will be possible after 5th June 2021.
